Heard this on my morning show as well. The comment seemed pretty unfounded, but racist? Come on...
You've never heard the term "uppity negro"? It was very prevelent in the South for decades, and a man of Westmoreland's age had to have heard that phrase before. I'm not saying that he's an out and out racist but his recent denials that he had no idea what he was saying are full of shit.
