The picture above (click image to enlarge) of downtown Dubai City features the Burj Dubai (Arabic: "Dubai Tower"), a building that while still under construction has already become the largest free-standing structure on the planet. The projected final height is being kept secret due to competition from other buildings currently under construction or proposed but estimates say that it will be around 162 floors and 2684 feet; that's over half a mile tall. Personally, I find this rapidly growing area of the world beautiful and fascinating, as per my previous posts here and here.
