I can't say that I agree with every single assessment of policy positions expressed here but the similarities are rather telling. Just saying.

I'll say it too.
Not only do NeoConservatives believe their own interpretation of god to be the only true one, they also believe, like Bin Laden, that the true god has chosen them to bring truth and 'justice' to the world through force and intimidation.
Absolute self-belief that they are 'good' and everyone else (including vast numbers of their fellow citizens who do not share their views) are evil or, at best, duped by evil.
And if you drill down to the core of this NeoConservative self-belief you will find the murky pit of religiously based intolerance and prejudice.
To be succinct: they're fucking nuts.
Hey, you sound like one of those moral relativists who don't think that Jesus was magic, magpie. There's a rule book and it's called the Bible and it's an exact transcript of what an invisible guy said over 2000 years ago.
Wait, you're not one of those people who likes to kill babies, are you? Damn libruls...
Magpie, I don't know the definition of a "NeoConservative" but I wholeheartedly disagree with some of your assessments.
Neoconservatives are basically what the modern Republican party has warped into, one L: constantly wanting war, using fear of the "other" and polemic class warfare to inspire their base, decrying "moral relativism", ie the idea that someone else could have different beliefs than yourself and still not be wrong, using their version of Christianity (which hardly resembles Jesus') to regulate the morals and personal behavior of everyone else regardless of whether they hold the same beliefs, etc.
Small "c" conservatives with a Libertarian bent (which is how I assume you define yourself) are not being addressed here although as I said, I also do disagree with a few of this charts assessments.
Honestly, I wouldn't know how to label myself because I don't know what any of the labels mean. All I know is that I seem a tad conservative to my coastal friends, a tad liberal to my southern friends and EXTREMELY pop music-y to my old Town Hall friends.
There's actually no need to label yourself politically one L unless you yourself find it necessary to do so. In fact, I can't tell you how many people (friend and foe) have taken exception to my self-imposed label of Libertarian-Socialist since I've started this blog.
Just be a good person, brother. The rest is but rhetorical masturbation (my own long-winded and rambling musings not withstanding, of course).
Conservatives are offended by the word "masturbation." They of course do it when they can't convince some gal that screwing is God's will. But they like to make a good show of being offended at "dirty" words.
Me? I must either be a liberal or naughty and somewhat immature because I can't help but giggle when someones says "masturbation."
Happy New Year JBW and all you readers.
