Obama's Prayer

Here's a copy of the prayer Barack Obama left between the stones of the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem today. When an Israeli newspaper printed it Shmuel Rabinovitz, the rabbi in charge of the wall, was a bit upset:

"The notes placed between the stones of the Western Wall are between a person and his maker. It is forbidden to read them or make any use of them," he told Army Radio. The publication "damages the Western Wall and damages the personal, deep part of every one of us that we keep to ourselves," he said.
I agree; how's God going to be able to read it if you don't leave it between the stones? It's not like he has super powers or anything.

His penmanship tells me he's fit to lead the country.

I don't think it's an issue whether or not God can read it, but rather that it(the note) is personal. It seems that it is understood that people don't go out pulling out the prayers that others have left there and then publish them in the news paper.

I get that; I just found it funny that he was surprised that this guy being flocked by the press might have a note he leaves in public stolen by that same press. And why didn't God stop it?

why didn't God stop it?

Free will, James. Free will.

Yet he "has a plan" and already knows what's going to happen in the future, but he doesn't intervene in events like this or help people; I see either a lack of free will or all those prayers falling on deaf ears. I'm just saying that for a guy who speaks in absolutes, he seems fairly inconsistent.

One of the perks of being the Lord is that you get to show up whenever and wherever you want and in whatever form you choose. You also get to help (or bless) whoever you want whenever you want.

In return, you, James, have the opportunity to believe in him (or not) and to obey what he says (or not). Free will. It's better than slavery!

I think what's getting lost in this long string of comments is the content of the note. If you're spiritual or not, that's some good stuff.

oh, and his folding technique seems quite complex. Perhaps we should have a psychologist read something into that.
