Something Stupid Someone Else Said

"On his 100th day in office, Barack Obama enjoys high job approval ratings, no matter what poll you consult. But if a new survey by the New York Times is accurate, the president and some of his policies are significantly less popular with white Americans than with black Americans, and his sky-high ratings among African-Americans make some of his positions appear a bit more popular overall than they actually are." -Byron York, Washington Examiner

Now I find myself in a bit of a quandary: do I refer to this obviously idiotic statement as merely "monumentally stupid" or do I stick with my gut and go with "pretty goddamned racist"? Bob Cesca logically voices the former:

Say...I wonder what President Bush's approval ratings would've been without the evangelicals, or white southerners, or Republicans. All those evangelicals made Bush's positions more popular than they actually were.
Whilest Oliver Willis slightly more angrily covers the latter:
Hey, Byron, what if we made a black vote worth 3/5 of a white one? No?
It appears that when you include the opinions of all Americans in a poll of all Americans it really skews the opinions of all Americans away from the failed right-wingers and puts them solidly in line with an Obama administration. Funny how reality always seems to include that dreaded liberal bias...

I'm pretty happy with Obama so far, taking into account that the last guy set the bar fairly low. I've never considered that I might be black, though.
