Graph Of The Day

Compiled from the weekly Research 2000 poll. The Republican party has truly become solely a bastion of the white South, which goes quite a ways towards explaining their innate hatred for and opposition to President Obama. And no wingnuts, I'm not saying that everyone who opposes Obama's policies is a racist, just that racism obviously plays some part in that opposition and that anyone with even a cursory knowledge of the history of race relations in the South who says otherwise in light of this data is either a partisan liar or a damn fool. And now for some extremely high-minded and not-at-all juvenile analysis: Is it just me or does it look like the rest of the country in this graph is flipping the Repubs the bird? Snap.

Odd if that many people hated Republicans that one was elected President...

It's so twisted it's funny.

"Research 2000" isn't a poll from 9 years ago Denney, it's the name of the polling outfit. This poll is from last week. But I do agree with you that it's odd that Bush ever got elected, twisted even. If he hadn't done so much damage I'd probably also find it funny as well...

I agree, Bush turned out to be a detriment to our country, just as the one who took his place.

I hope you understand that Research 2000 is funded by left wing advocacy groups and liberal media. If the polls didn't lean left, the Daily Kos would stop buying them...

Why don't you compare this poll with one done by a reputable polling organization and see how they differ.

I'm glad we can agree that Bush was a detriment to the country Denney but I think to say that Obama is "just as" much so at this early point in his presidency is a bit of a stretch. While I think it's fair to make judgements on Bush's administration now that it's over, Obama (if he's elected to a second term) has finished less than 10% of his presidency thus far. I don't think that any reputable political scientist would claim to be able to assess an administration and compare it to others based on this small amount of time.

Also, if you have any documented proof of liberal bias as to Research 2000's methodology on this particular poll or proof of their being disreputable and you want to link to it I'd be glad to check it out but I personally don't think that the source of a polls funding necessarily discounts the veracity of its results.

And of course Daily Kos funds polls that agree with their views, they choose the questions to be asked based on where they think the tenor of the country is at the time but that doesn't necessarily mean that those results aren't true. Contrary to popular belief on the right, just because a poll leans left doesn't always mean that it's wrong.

I searched for other polls measuring GOP popularity by region to compare to but I couldn't find any. If you can link to any I missed please leave a link for those as well. But this now brings me to my question: Are you disputing that the GOP doesn't carry a much larger approval rating in the South compared to the rest of the country? Even if this poll has a generally left leaning bias causing you to disagree with the specific numbers, that still shouldn't affect the variation across the different regions, should it?
