The Reformer goes rogue on the Maverick in her bid for 2012; perhaps this is why they just couldn't ever get their shit together:
I personally think that Sarah Palin's political future will be decided by what direction the Republican party takes after this election (assuming a loss by the right today). If the originalists in the party make a move back towards traditional conservative values: responsible government, fiscal responsibility, individual civil and privacy rights, etc. then I'd say she won't be spending much more time in the Lower 48. But if the wingnut, religious wing of the party that George Bush and Karl Rove have cultivated over the last 8 years keeps control, not only will we see more loss of individual rights, unchecked spending, bloated government, unnecessary wars, torture of innocent human beings and political fear mongering but it will also lead to the inevitable rise of Palin as their neoconservative poster girl.
I can't say I won't have fun watching it play out but I just hope the right side prevails; this country can't afford to have someone like George W. Bush at the helm again.
