When I was a kid I was a total pack rat. I couldn't bear to throw something away out of some irrational fear that I'd inevitably need it as soon as it was gone. I've gotten a lot better about it since supposedly becoming an adult but I still seem to amass a great deal of shit on a regular basis which suddenly becomes much less valuable to me when I have to actually move it. So now my rule is that if I haven't taken something out of its box and used it since the last time I moved it then it gets trashed without a second thought. I've grown tired of trying to hold on to useless things. Regular posting will resume again tomorrow.

Sounds as if your move went well.
Try tossing stuff if you haven't used it in two years. If you succeed, let me know how you did it
Funny Pic. I quoted this title while moving The Pollock."Moving Pictures."
I think I succeeded, Leslie. I just asked myself how long it had been since I'd even thought about any particular item and then weighed that against its monetary value. Apparently I own a lot of cheap, useless crap. Make that, "used to own..."
Well done, IC. I didn't hear your comment when you were moving the Pollack but your music cred definitely just went up a notch.
We actually don't have much stuff. We usually get the question "Where do you keep all your 'stuff'?" when people come see the house... with that said, there is a bunch of crap in boxes, in closets, that has moved with us at least twice that I never use. Never mind the crap at my mom's house that wasn't actually good enough to make the move to any of our 3 residences.
For us Americans materialism is a type of addiction, one L. I'm completely self-aware yet I'm still a slave to it. My only recourse is to minimize its effects to tolerable (and affordable) levels.
