Terminator: Salvation

I loved the previous Terminator movies (loving 3 was done in the way you love an amusing in-law) but I can't decide if I like the direction the current one is moving in. I'm a huge fan of origin stories but the time involved between the first and (supposedly) last of this series makes this one seem extremely forced:

My prediction: John Connor is victorious.

I don't know what to think either. It doesn't help that his narration sounds like the Batman voice and the motorcycles look similar to the batcycle (?). We'll see what happens.

I never saw 3. I imagine that will happen around the same time as Rambo 3 and Rocky 6... or whatever numbers they were.

Fans have wanted to see something set in the machine-dominated future for some time (I was about to write "post-apocalypse", but then the word made me think of you-know-who... and I felt my IQ begin to drop) so this had to be done eventually if they were going to keep milking the concept.
I had actually hoped the third film would be that sort of story, but alas...

Let's hope it's good.

I'm also looking forward to seeing what the post-Apocalyptic (yeah, I said it) world will look like; I'm just glad we now have the technology to make it look real and uncheesy. But as you said, we'll see.
